Take a fine art field day at the Prado Museum!
The Museo Nacional del Prado is the main national art museum in Spain and boasts of the best Spanish fine art collection in the world. And, with Spanish masterpieces such as Velázquez’s Las Meninas, Goya’s Saturn Devouring His Son, and Jacob’s Dream by Ribera, it’s easy to see why! But, the Prado Museum is also considered an international museum heavy-weight for its collection of works by other major European artists, as well!
Don’t worry if Spanish art doesn’t speak to you. The Prado Museum displays well-known pieces by Rembrandt, El Greco, Raphael, Dürer, and many more. Of particular interest is Caravaggio’s David and Goliath. So, take your time while browsing one of the greatest art collections of all time and you just might discover an unexpected fondness for something new! Well, new to you, anyway…

While the Prado tickets were good, the bus tour was a disappointment. The recorded tour was mostly music with little real information. It was a bit out of sync as well. The main issue was the stops. Terribly long! Waiting in the sun while people slowly got on or off the bus was just too much. People would get on and ride for one stop and then get off. Sounds great but each time the entire bus was stopped for much too long. We did not even make it half way around the tour before we abandoned the tour. A no stop bus tour would be much better as it would cater to the tour and not a transportation method. As it is it fails at both.
