Overview

Navigate romance and spirituality in the colourful landscape of Japan that changes with season. The tour brings a mélange of colours, landscapes, architecture and food, taking you to the most popular sites around Osaka.

Reach Kameoka Station and board the Sagano train for a scenic drive to Arashiyama. Chug along a 19th century narrow gauge which was used to haul freight, now magnificently transformed into an art-deco style train of all seasons as you pass through the Hozukyo Ravine that changes colours – pink cherry blossom in spring, lush greens in summer, yellow Japanese maple in fall and snow white in winters.

At 25km/hour, the train tugs at nostalgic heartstrings as you take in the scenic sights from the large glass windows of one of the four coaches with wooden bench seats and bare light bulbs.

When you reach at Arashiyama, deboard the train for a traditional buffet lunch. Head to Kiyomizudera, one of the most celebrated temples of Japan built in AD 780. The UNESCO World Heritage Site temple is named after the pure waters of the Otowa Waterfall and offers gorgeous views of cherry and maple trees as well as of the city of Kyoto.

After spending some quality time at the temple, you will visit the Fushimi Inari shrine, famous for its network of vermillion tori gates behinds its main buildings. Observe the many fox statues in the shrine premises as the animals are thought to be the messengers of Inari, the Shinto God of rice.

Visiting so many places is fulfilling yet exhausting, and we make sure that you travel comfortably in a bus back to the original point of departure.
