Derived from the Latin name Forum Romanum, Roman Forum attracts approximately 4.5 million visitors per year. The Forum was in use for approximately 1400 years and started around 800 BC to 600 AD. The majority of the structures were built during the reign of Julius Caesar and his successor Augustus.

According to the legend, the Forum is also home to the tomb of Romulus – the founder of Rome. The Laps Niger marks his grave. The Temple of Caesar is where supposedly Julius Caesar was cremated in 44 BC.

The Temple of Saturn, one of the most exemplary structures, dates back to 497 BC. The column used to hold state archives, and reserves of gold and silver at that time. The Roman Forum got neglected during the Middle Ages to become an abandoned pasture for livestock earning the nickname ‘Cow Field.’
