Bako National Park is Sarawak's oldest national park, covering an area of 2,727 hectares at the tip of the Muara Tebas peninsula. Although it is one of Southeast Asia's smallest national parks, it is a treasure chest of fauna and flora and contains almost every type of vegetation found in Borneo.
A well-maintained network of 16 colour-coded jungle trails offers visitors the option of gentle strolls or full-day jungle hikes. Bako is also home to approximately 150 rare proboscis monkey, found only in Borneo. Along the sandy footpaths you will find the insect-eating pitcher plants that have been known to devour over small mammals.
This tour is available in two options – coach and private. The private option offers you greater flexibility and you can spend as much or as little time at any of the places that you visit. Unlike the tight schedules of coach tours, the private option allows you to do the tour at your own pace.
You will be picked up from your hotel in Kuching and taken in a coach/private vehicle to the Bako National Park in Sarawak, a journey in which you will travel partly by land and partly by water.
Drive for about 45 minutes passing by beautiful nipah palms and mangrove swamps before arriving at the Kampong Bako fishing village. Here you will board a motorized boat that will take you to the Bako National Park in about 45 minutes.
After arriving at the Park, set out with a pair of binoculars. See the many adaptations of the dipterocarpus lowland forest with the various timber species before coming to flat vegetation land. The Park is renowned for its botanical richness and diversity. Numerous species of birds and animals like the long-nosed Proboscis monkeys, long-tail macaques, wild boars, Sambar deers, dusky-leaf monkeys, flying squirrels and monitor lizards live in this coastal rainforest environment. Also, plant life includes mangroves, strangling figs, carnivorous pitcher plants and symbiotic ant plants. Unique geological features mark the coastline, whilst well-marked trails lead to rugged jungle-covered hilltops and secluded beaches.
Enjoy your lunch at at the park’s canteen.
See the marvellous and fascinating weathering process such as hemispherical cavities, iron stained rocks and the sea stack, one of the most photographed features of the Park.
At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back at your hotel in Kuching.

Great tour which we loved. Lunch is a packed sandwich and a piece of chicken. Nobody on our tour ate the chicken as it was not kept cold enough during the morning in the chilly...
I booked on-line from India for this tour in Sarawak, Malaysia. The booking process is very simple and user-friendly. The tour experience was equally good. Isango's tour partner...
