This tour starts with a convenient hotel pick-up in Seoul. Enjoy the picturesque way to Andong city and get to know your tour guide well who will share valuable information on all the landmarks you visit during the day.
Travel through Andong, also known as the “Capital City of Korean Spirit”. Being the heart of Confucian traditions,it has preserved many aspects of the South Korea’s traditional culture since the last 2000 years.
Travel around this wonder city in the following order:
Buyongdae Cliff: Enjoy the panoramic views of the Hahoe Village in Andong from atop this 64 metres high cliff.
Hwacheon Seowon: Located across the river from the historic Andong Hahoe Village, this hanok was built in 1786 during the reign of King Jeongjo to hold the tablet of a renowned scholar and official of the Joseon Dynasty. Marvel at the ancient beauty of this remarkably preserved site that also served as a Confucian academy for some 100 years.
Lunch: Andong prides itself for its traditional fish salting methods. Enjoy the flavourful taste of salted mackerel, called gan-godeungeo, one of the many popular local specialties, eaten as a snack, side dish or full meal.
Hahoe Village: Enjoy this much-awaited trip around the scenic Hahoe Folk Village that has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site! Well known for its traditional houses, this village earned international fame after Queen Elizabeth II of England visited it in year 1999 on the occasion of her 73rd birthday. Marvel at its charming old homes of yangbans (aristocrats) from the early Joseon era.
Hahoe Mask Museum: Finally, witness the exhibits ofmasks from Korea and other countries at Hahoe Mask Museum and learn about the unique history and culture of these traditional masks.
This tour ends with a convenient drop-off at your Seoul hotel.
