If the thought of visiting one of the most heavily armed border zones in the world excites you, then this is the tour for you! Enjoy a well-guided tour to the Korean Demilitarized Zone, one of the world’s most unusual tourist places that serves as a buffer zone between North Korea and South Korea.
Bearing the remnants of the Cold War and their consequences till date, this tour teaches you a lot more about the Korean War history than you already might be aware of. With the help of easy transportation, visit various prominent places like the Imgingak Park, 3rd Infiltration Tunnel and Dorasan Observatory.
What’s more? This tour additionally includes an exciting pistol shooting experience and one-way hotel pick up!
This exciting tour of the Korean Demilitarized Zone begins with a comfortable pick up from your Seoul hotel. Get to know your friendly guide as you pass by Imjingak Park, also known as the Nuri Peace Park, which was built in 1972 after the joint South-North armistice with a hope that someday unification might be possible. As you travel through the DMZ area, located just a few miles away from the North Korean Territory, listen to your guide’s commentary on Korea’s turbulent past. Also, learn how the Korean Armistice Agreements led to the creation of a 155-mile long military demarcation line (MLD) with this 2-km wide demilitarized zone on each side of it.
Check out the Freedom Bridge that was once crossed over by South Koreans when they came back home from North Korea. Next, pass by the Unification Village to reach the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel that was secretly dug by the Northern army to spy on the Republic of Korea!
Your next stop is the Dorasan Observatory, located on the top of Mt. Dora. Being the closest accessible place in South Korea to the North, enjoy catching rare glimpses of the North Korean State through binoculars on this 304 square feet observatory. This is followed by a visit to Dorastan Station, one of the northernmost railway stations on the Gyeongui Line, connecting Seoul to Sinuiju. Situated in the zone that strictly restricts general civilian access, visitors can view Dorasan Mountain and the barbed wire fences of the Southern Limit Line.
Participate in a unique pistol shooting activity at a shooting gallery.
This tour ends at Myeongdong area where later you can enjoy shopping and pamper your taste buds at your own pace.
