Overview

On this tour to Shanghai, see its major historical and cultural attractions.

Situated in the heart of People's Square, the Shanghai Museum portrays a cross-century image, and is one of the true scenic spots in metropolitan Shanghai. It houses an impressive collection of over 120,000 artifacts.

Shanghai Xin Tian Di is a fashionable pedestrian street composed of Shikumen and modern architecture style. Its uniqueness lies in its concept of construction, retaining as it does the antique walls, tiles and exterior of the Shikumen housing of old Shanghai.

At No.7 Xiangshan Road, stands a two-storey European-style building. Though its looks nondescript, it is the focus of deep reverence and admiration from locals and visitors alike. It is the former residence of Sun Yat-sen (also named Sun Wen), the great forerunner of the Chinese democratic revolution, the founder of the Republic of China and a pillar of Chinese modern history.

Itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel and taken in an air-conditioned car or mini coach (depending on the number of passengers) for a historical and cultural sightseeing tour of Shanghai. An English-speaking tour guide will accompany you on this tour.

The highlights of your tour are:

Shanghai Museum (with Audio): One of the most scenic spots in Shanghai, the building uses an artistic conception of a round dome (sky) and square building (earth). Its collections encompasses over 120,000 pieces of cultural relics in twelve categories, including bronze, ceramics, calligraphy, paintings, jades, numismatics, furniture, seals, sculptures, minority art and foreign art. Shanghai Museum is especially famous for its collection of bronzes, ceramics, paintings and calligraphy.

Xin Tian Di, Shikumen: Stroll along this fashionable pedestrian street in Shanghai, lined with Shikumen and modern architecture. This street embodies a totally different world of international galleries, bars and cafes, boutiques and theme restaurants. When you walk into Xin Tian Di, you will get the taste of both, Shanghai in the 1920s and the sonic modern lifestyle of urbanites of the 21st century.

Sun Yat-sen residence: At No.7 Xiangshan Road, Shanghai, stands a two-storey European-style building. This is the former residence of Sun Yat-sen (also named Sun Wen), the great forerunner of the Chinese democratic revolution, the founder of the Republic of China.
