Overview
We drive through the picturesque landscape of the Dalmatian hinterland and Lika and at about midday we arrive in the centre of the Plitvice Lakes, which are considered to be one of the most beautiful natural phenomena in the world. Sixteen lakes situated in the thick forest are connected by92 waterfalls and cascade down the Korana River and form unique surroundings.
Particular attractions are a few caves and rich diversity of flora and fauna. The Plitvice Lakes were declared a national park in 1949 and since 1979 have been under UNESCO protection. The tour of the park lasts about two and a half hours along with walking includes a boat trip on Lake Kozjak. After touring the lakes there is free time for lunch and pursuing your own activities and enjoying the untouched nature of one of the most beautiful natural parks in the world.
Itinerary
7am - Departure from Split
7:30am -11:30am - Scenic drive through the countryside with a coffee break
11:30am -3:30pm - Guided sightseeing tour of Plitvice lakes
3:45pm - 4:45pm - Free time for lunch
7:30pm - Return to Split via highway
