Overview

Explore the vast red sandy plains of central Australia during your visit to the Kata Tjuta National Park.

The Kata Tjuta National Park expands across 327 acres of Australia’s desert outback and is home to the 36 head-shaped domes, , commonly known as The Olgas. The national park is considered sacred to native Aboriginal community, the Anangu people.

Follow the walking trail between the domes and enjoy the stunning views of this extraordinary site.

An English speaking guide will give insight into the geology of the area, the distinct flora and fauna inhabiting the domes, and the spectacular landscapes surrounding them.

Itinerary

Depart from your hotel in Ayers Rock Resort to Kata Tjuta National Park.

Upon your arrival at the national park, your English speaking guide will take you on a walk around the park and show you the unique flora and fauna of the region. You will spot native fuschia, red river gums and the bright pink flowers of the foxtail grass. You may see animals like kangaroos, emus, dingoes and wallabies roaming on the red desert sand.

As you continue your walk, you will arrive at Walpa Gorge, which follows the natural creek between two of the tallest domes of Kata Tjuta. Here, your guide will tell you how the 36 head-shaped domes that make up Kata Tjuta have evolved over millions of years.

From Walpa gorge, take in the beauty of the surroundings and view the massive scale of the rock walls that surround you.

After spending some quality time in the gorge, you will head back to your coach and be dropped off at your hotel.
