Activity Overview
Discover the peaceful charm of the East Algarve, where picturesque towns, rich heritage, and striking architecture create an unforgettable journey through Portugal’s southern coast.
Start in Faro, the capital of the Algarve, and explore its atmospheric Old Town. Stroll along cobbled lanes and tranquil squares before arriving at the Arco da Vila, an iconic gateway rebuilt after the devastating 1755 earthquake.
Travel east to Olhão, a town celebrated for its distinctive cubist-style houses and the Algarve’s second-largest fishing harbour. Wander through its bustling fresh markets, packed with local delicacies and regional produce, while taking in the natural beauty of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, home to an abundance of birdlife.
Conclude your journey in Tavira, often referred to as the “Venice of the Algarve.” From the castle gardens and ancient walls, enjoy sweeping views of the town’s elegant architecture and characteristic “4 águas” rooftops. Finish with a walk across the historic Roman Bridge spanning the Gilão River, a timeless setting that perfectly captures the spirit of the East Algarve.
