Sporting remarkable Modern and Expressionist architecture, the Sydney Opera House is a masterpiece and an easily recognizable icon of Sydney. Opened in 1973, it attracts more than 9 million visitors every year. It is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and took over 14 years to complete.
Step inside its theatres which cater to more than 2,000 live performances every year and capture its magnificence in amazing photographs. Make sure to check out the amazing Bennelong Restaurant run by a notable Australian Chef Peter Gilmore and the hip bar. Take a backstage tour or attend a performance show by the Resident Companies, The Australian Ballet, Opera Australia, Bell Shakespeare, and more.
Since it is an indoor activity, you can visit Opera House Sydney any time of the year. However, the best time to book the Opera House tour is around sunset. The glistening hues of the setting sun make for a unique vista for incredible views and photographs.
You can board a bus to reach the nearest stop at Circular Quay which is around 800 m away from the Opera House. You can also take a metro with metro Lines T2, T3, and T8 that will take you to the Sydney Opera House. Alternatively, you can also book a cab to reach there but it can be a little expensive.
The Opera House Sydney opens Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 8:30 pm. On Sunday, it opens from 10 am to 6 pm. It remains closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The Opera House is kid-friendly; your kids can embark on a junior adventure tour. Apart from that, they can play with LEGO kits in a free space known as ‘Creative Play.’ Even the restaurants at the Opera House have kid-friendly menus.
