Your hotel in Beijing
A hutong is an ancient city alley or lane typical for Beijing, where hutongs run into the several thousands. Surrounding the Forbidden City, many were built during the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.
This 700-year old neighbourhood of Old Beijing with labyrinth-like narrow streets seems to be caught in a time warp. See it through the eyes of your own personal rickshaw driver and make several stops along the river, at the vegetable market, and even visit a local house to get a feel of Chinese everyday life. This tour also includes a visit to the magnificent gardens at Prince Gong´s Mansion, Beijing´s largest and the best preserved royal mansion of Qing Dynasty.
On arrival at the Old District, board your jinrikisha, and explore this historical part of Beijing.
The maze of narrow alleyways winding around the Forbidden City is fast disappearing, and you’ll get a glimpse into the distinctive Chinese culture as you zigzag through the hutongs. You’ll also visit the home of a real Chinese family and climb to the top of an old drum tower for a bird’s eye view of the area.
Visit the magnificent gardens at Prince Gong’s Mansion, Beijing’s largest and the best preserved royal mansion of Qing Dynasty.
At the end of the tour, you will be transported back to your hotel in Beijing.
