Overview

Discover the rich mix of history and culture on a 3-hour Budapest Grand tour and see the most iconic attractions of the city. Sitting on either side of the mighty Danube River, the elegant capital of Budapest has much to flaunt such as the architecture of Buda, the boulevards of Pest, famous cuisine to thermal baths. UNESCO has recognized the embankment area of the Danube, Castle District, and the Andrássy Avenue area as World Heritage Sites and they are an absolute must-do when in the city!

The tour starts from Hotel Intercontinental or from your downtown hotel. We cross the Elisabeth Bridge to Buda side. Enjoy spectacular views of Budapest from the Citadel on top of Gellért Hill (photo stop) and enjoy a stroll through Castle District, the home of the Fishermen’s Bastion and the neo-gothic Matthias Church. Castle Hill was the seat of the Hungarian kings from the 14th century.

Attractions you will be seeing:

  • Parliament
  • Margaret-Bridge (Margaret-Island)
  • Royal Castle on the Buda side
  • Fisherman’s Bastion
  • Matthias Church
  • Gellért Hill (Photostop)
  • Heroes’ Square
  • Opera
  • St. Stephen’s Basilica

You’ll be going down the hill and passing the Danube Promenade, the romantic Castle Garden Bazaar, the iconic Chain Bridge, and the House of Parliament across the river (short photo stop).

While crossing over to the Pest side on Margaret (Margit) bridge, explore Margaret (Margit) Island, a picturesque green garden of the city.

Continue to the Grand Boulevard and catch a glimpse of the Western (Nyugati) Railway Station built by the Eiffel company.

Stroll around the city park and see the imposing Heroes’ Square with the Millennium Monument, Museum of Fine Arts and Art Gallery, the nearby Vajdahunyad Castle, the Széchenyi Thermal Bath, the largest thermal bath in Central Europe.

Enjoy a drive along the Andrássy Avenue- where you can see the State Opera House and the Basilica from outside.
