Get ready to discover the most modern area of the city and take in the incredible view of the city's skyscrapers along Cartagena Bay in the area of Bocagrande. This is your chance to experience the famous vibrant nightlife and beaches, and see a whole new side to Cartagena – the city is mainly known for its colonial history, but this is a whole other level! Head to La Manga, connected to Cartagena via bridges, and admire the stunning republican architecture in the area, home to the city's rich and famous.
Overlooking La Manga, you'll be astounded by the incredible sight of the magnificent La Popa Convent, perched on the highest hill of Cartagena at a height of 150m! Once you reach the top, you'll be blown away by the unbeatable panoramic views stretching over the city. And that's not all! You'll also get the chance to explore the amazing La Popa Convent before moving on to Castillo San Felipe de Barajas, one of Spain's most impressive fortresses. And it's even listed as a World Heritage Site! And there's more! One of Spain's greatest fortresses is also located atop a hill. Built by the Spanish during the colonial era, its incredible, impenetrable walls were never defeated! They still command the city skyline today.
And now for something really special! The tour continues in the historic city centre. Take a leisurely stroll through its picturesque streets and squares on your way to Las Bovedas. The Bovedas dungeon cells and storage vaults, attached to the city walls, have been transformed into a fantastic shopping experience! You'll find a wonderful selection of local Caribbean handicrafts, perfect for remembering your colourful time in this colourful city.
