Overview

Visit Gdansk's picturesque Westerplatte Peninsula which has the unhappy distinction of being the site of the official start of the Second World War. A small forested island separated from Gdansk by the harbour channel, Westerplatte was established as a Polish military outpost during the interwar period.

Itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel in Gdansk in a private vehicle at a time closest to your convenience.

• You will be transferred to the Westerplatte Peninsula that guards the entrance to the Gdansk harbour, where the first attack of WW II began.
• Proceed towards the Gdansk Shipyard, the birthplace of Solidarity movement which had a strength of 10 million members, the shore upon which the wave of Soviet regime broke.
• Stop by the Monument to Fallen Ship Workers - a homage to the dockyard workers who died in December 1970.
• Visit the "Roads to Freedom" exhibition dedicated to the local struggle for freedom and justice. The famous postulates scribbled on plywood boards that were hung over the gate to the Gdansk Shipyard in August 1980 are now displayed in the historic hall where the August Agreement was signed. The boards have been entered into the UNESCO ‘World Memory List’.
