Remember "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (book and film)? That's just what this experience will remind you of, as you see how chocolate is made and taste the product!
Also visit a cheese factory to try nutty Gruyere cheese and learn how it's prepared. See the black- and- white cows that produce the milk and hear the tinkling of cow bells across lush Alpine pastures.
Walk off the calories as you explore a peaceful medieval village and castle.
And there's still a treat in store. Sample locally made wines (or grape juice)at a delightful winery overlooking Lake Geneva. No worries about drinking and driving as your comfortable coach will return you safely to the starting point.
Please make your way to Geneva Bus Station (Place Dorcière) to board the comfortable air-conditioned coach for your Gruyere Countryside and Local Specialities excursion.
Travel with your French and English speaking guide through picture post-card landscapes to the lovely countryside around Gruyere. This is a mountainous region etched with deep valleys sheltering traditional wood-built hamlets.
You will stop at the town of Broc to visit the Cailler-Nestle chocolate factory, one of oldest and most famous Swiss chocolate factories. What blissful temptation! On your factory tour, you will learn all about how chocolate is made. Best of all, you get a chance to sample plenty of the products and buy take-home supplies in the factory shop.
You will then go on to Gruyere, a medieval village on top of a hill, to visit a cheese factory. On the way you may see the black- and- white Fribourg cows that produce milk for the famous Gruyere cheese. Learn how this cheese is made and try some samples. After some instruction, prepare your own Swiss cheese fondue!
After all this chocolate and cheese you may need to work off the calories. Take a walking tour around peaceful car-free Gruyere. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and listen for the tinkling of cowbells. You could also visit the 800-year old castle (entrance not included).
End your day of gastronomic delights with a visit to a winery to learn the '1001 Secrets' of wine making. Enjoy views of the vineyards overlooking the lake as you join a wine (or Swiss grape juice) tasting session with Swiss sausage and Vaud cheese to freshen your palate.
Then board your coach for the return drive through beautiful Alpine scenery. Your tour ends at the pick-up point at Geneva Bus Station (Place Dorcière).
Your guide may also speak German, Italian and Spanish language (depending on the guide) but not guaranteed
