Dive into the fairytale wonderland of Sintra on this day tour from Lisbon that takes you to Europe’s westernmost point covering royal courts and cathedrals along the way. Sintra is a place straight out of a fantasy film, complete with palaces, forests, Moorish castle and UNESCO World Heritage site. Kickstart your day at a beautiful and romantic Pena Palace often surrounded by a fairytale-esque mist located on one of the highest peaks of the Sintra Mountains.
If you hear your stomach grumbling after all the walking about, make sure you tuck into the famous “Travesseiros” (pastry with almond cream) which is a must-have! Head to the top of the mountain to visit the Pena Palace and take the time to explore the Pena Park. The stunning Palace was transformed in the 19th century from an old convent into a palatial residence and is not complete with stunning parks, gardens, stone benches and serpentine roads making for a picture perfect postcard.
Head next to Cabo da Roca and appreciate the view from Europe’s westernmost point and stroll the beaches at Guincho. Discover Cascais, once a traditional fishing village and now a sophisticated coastal getaway. Stroll through its charming streets, lively marina, and sunlit beaches that perfectly reflect the beauty and atmosphere of Portugal’s seaside culture. End the day along the coast passing by Estoril before heading back to Lisbon.
