Overview
The small reserve (64,2 Km2) of Andranomena which hosts many richness of fauna and flora is one of the kingdom of rare and threatened birds. As the reserve is mainly composed of dense deciduous dry forest, and comprises some seasonal small lakes where local endemic aquatic plants grow, it is a heaven for migratory birds during their annual journey through the Mozambique Channel. More than 75% of the flora and 60% of the Fauna and flora living in the Reserve is endemic and several species.
As the reserve is not far from the alley of Baobab,we can meet there more than 3 species of baobabs: Andasonia fony, Andansonia grandidieri and za. We will end our visit at the Alley of baobab and baobab amoureux (lovers) to listen to the legends and history. The baobab amoureux: Lovers Baobab .Here two magnificent baobabs (Adansonia za) have twisted together, two such a giant twisted.
This is very a unusual sight where faith and legends abounds. The Avenue or Alley of the Baobabs is a prominent group of baobab trees lining the dirt road between Morondava and Belon'i Tsiribihina. Its striking landscape draws travelers from around the world, making it one of the most visited locations in the region.
