Overview

Nestled like a gem deep in the Bavarian Alps lies the Berchtesgaden National Park. The idyllic setting masks a dark history, having been a mountain retreat for members of the Nazi Party.

Following the German Alpine Road you will have a splendid view of the Bavarian Alps in every direction.

You will have the option of travelling to the notorious Eagle’s Nest. Although the view is beautiful at Eagle’s Nest, it is one of the darkest places on earth. This seemingly innocent tearoom was one of the world’s most evil tyrant’s personal tearoom.

Itinerary

Your tour starts at the front of the “Karstadt” department store, board an air-conditioned coach accompanied by a bilingual (English and German speaking) guide.

Drive along the German Alpine Road to the Berchtesgaden National Park, an amazing sanctuary protected by the Bavarian Alps. Feast your eyes on the superb mountain scenery all around.

You’ll be given time to take lunch in Berchtesgaden at a restaurant where you can enjoy the delicious Bavarian fare.

In the afternoon there is an optional ride in a special bus to Eagle’s Nest (payable direct, approximately €14), Nazi dictator Hitler’s personal tearoom. In case of snow and ice, the world famous Salt Mines will be visited as an alternative to Eagle’s Nest.

At the end of the day, you’ll be taken back to the starting point.
