Immerse yourself in a whole new culture and experience the daily life of a genuine Indian tribe on this enlightening tour of the Embera Puru village. Sail down the jungle river in a handmade wooden canoe to reach the remote tribal village and spend a fascinating and unforgettable day learning all about their culture and lifestyle.
Leave the hustle and bustle of Panama City and the 21st century well behind you as you are picked up from your hotel and taken to the edge of Chagres national Park. Here you will begin your canoe journey, accompanied by a knowledgeable tribe member to guide your vessel. Keep your eyes peeled for toucans, sloths and monkeys as you cruise through the beautiful jungle for roughly an hour before arriving at the village.
You will be warmly greeted at the settlement with a traditional musical greeting and the local tribe people will be happy to show you around their village. Listen to a captivating short talk about their lives, culture, lifestyle and crafts before being led through the jungle by a village elder to teach you about the medicinal plants they frequently use.
Upon your return to the village you will be treated to a delicious traditional meal of fried plantains with fish or chicken. Then be entertained by musical performances and a spectacular shamanic dance by the women of the village. You will have the opportunity to buy some of the villagers’ exquisite craftwork as a souvenir and they are always happy to pose for a photo to remind you of your truly unforgettable experience.
Visit to the Visitor Center of the National Environmental Authority is included, expedition with the Emberá natives and we finish with the visit to the Bahai temple.
