Overview

Cesky Krumlov is one of the Czech Republic’s most prized historical treasures.

Set out on a scenic drive from Prague through the beautiful South Bohemian countryside, which is dotted with picturesque villages and crystal ponds.

Cesky Krumlov, a UNESCO World Heritage city, dates back to the 13th century, and its old town is populated by an eclectic blend of Renaissance, Baroque, and Gothic-style homes.

The highlight of the trip is a tour of the National Castle and Chateau, which features an ancient Gothic church decorated with 15th century frescoes and a faithfully-preserved Baroque theater.

Itinerary

To join the tour please make your way to Republic Square 3 (The yellow kiosk of Prague Sightseeing Tours & Cityrama). From there board an air-conditioned coach for your Cesky Krumlov sightseeing tour.

Relax on your scenic two and a half hour drive through the South Bohemian countryside to Cesky Krumlov, whose old city is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. It is one of only two places in the Czech Republic to earn that distinction, the other being Prague’s castle district.

Explore this unique urban complex, comprising three hundred historic houses and the National Castle and Chateau, the second largest such structure in the country after the Prague Castle.

The castle is rightly called the Renaissance Pearl, and the grounds include a sizeable garden, an extensive bridge that spans a deep gap in the rock upon which the castle is built, and a preserved baroque theater, with props and stage machinery still in place.

Lunch at U Švejka, an acclaimed local restaurant, where you’ll be able to enjoy a ham roll, a choice of chicken mixture with vegetable and rice or chicken steak, home kolach (pastry), and coffee.

The tour will end at the beginning point.
