A nature lovers dream; the South Shore of Iceland is one of the most diverse and breathtaking landscapes in the world. A lowland region of lush farmland, striking waterfalls, sandy coastline, glaciers and quaint towns and villages, it is also an area of historical significance.
Enjoy a guided bus tour of the scenic south coast of Iceland, wealthy in history as well as natural attractions. The tour will visit the following places:
Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss Waterfalls: The picturesque Seljalandsfoss waterfall is one of the most famous waterfalls of Iceland. It is 40 meters high and its main attraction, besides the scenery, is the fact that there is a pathway leading behind the waterfall and out the other side, giving visitors a chance to view the falls from within. The Skógafoss is one of the biggest and most beautiful waterfalls of the country with a width of 25 meters and a drop of 60 meters. Due to the amount of spray the waterfall consistently produces, a single or double rainbow is normally visible on sunny days.
Visit the famous Reynisfjara black sand beach, with the Reynisdrangar rock formations and columnar basalt. Although one of the most beaches in Iceland, it can be quite dangerous due to powerful sneaker waves, and we kindly ask our guests not to go too close to the ocean and follow all guidelines.
Sólheimajökull Glacier: (if road conditions allow) The Sólheimajökull glacier tongue extends down to the lowlands and is an impressive ice field of solid blue ice with crusty whitish surface.
Vik village: Enjoy a stop at Iceland’s southernmost village, surrounded by beautiful and impressive high bird cliffs. The black volcanic sand beach south of Vík is ideal for viewing the spectacular rock formations Dyrhólaey and Reynisdrangar.
