Enjoy the beauty of nature while hunting frozen waterfalls on a Frozen Waterfalls of Korouoma Hiking Tour!
Conquer the Korouoma during your next Finland tour! The Korouoma is a 20-mile-long and 430-foot-deep canyon located in Posio, Finland. This nature reserve is actually part of a fracture zone that was formed millions of years ago. As a result, the Korouoma gorge has cliff-like walls from which the water cascades down and freezes during winter. All together there are roughly 14 frozen waterfalls along the Korouoma hiking trail. And, the terrain of the area is exceptionally rugged and equally beautiful. Understandably, Korouoma is a popular place for hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, and ice-climbing during any Finland vacation.
Head out towards the Posio virgin forest area, which is about 160 kilometers from Rovaniemi. Warm winter gear like overalls, gloves and boots will be provided. Strap on your snowshoes and your professional guides will show you how to walk in them. In some places, the snow trails may be thicker than 1 meter. But, with snowshoes, walking on the trail goes much easier. In the middle of our hike, we will set up a campsite fire and enjoy some traditional Arctic cuisine. Then, we will continue on to see spectacular waterfalls that look as though they’re frozen in time. If you’re looking for a little adventure during your Lapland trip, then the Frozen Waterfalls of Korouoma Hiking Tour is what to do in Finland list!
