Explore Selingan Turtle Island, nesting ground to rare green turtles. Laze and relax on the beautiful beach or just watch the incredible variety of birds. In the evening, you can see the turtles laying eggs and observe the hatchlings being released into the ocean.
Meet the gentle apes at the world’s largest orang utan rehabilitation sanctuary. Watch the fun of feeding time and find out how orphan infant orang utans are taught survival skills before being set free to roam in the jungle.
This excellent tour combines the delights of an island paradise with the wild wonders of a tropical forest.
The day starts with a transfer from your hotel to Kota Kinabalu airport for flight MH2042 to Sandakan.
Upon arrival in Sandakan, transfer to the jetty for the boat ride to Selingan Turtle Island, one of several islands specially protected to conserve turtles and other marine animals. A guide will go with you on this tour.
When you arrive, you will register at Turtle Island Parks HQ and check into the Chalet. After lunch at the cafeteria, you will be free to enjoy the beach or go swimming or snorkeling.
In the evening, a ranger will take you to see female green turtles laying eggs in the sand.
Sea turtles are reptiles that spend the majority of their lives in the ocean. Females may take up to 40 years to reach reproductive age, often returning to the beach of their birth to breed. Both green and hawksbill turtles nest on Selingan but you are most likely to see the green turtles.
You will be able to observe the release of tiny turtle hatchlings carefully nurtured under the Selingan Turtle Island breeding program. See them launched into the sea to follow their natural life-cycle.
You will stay overnight at the Selingan Park Chalet on the island. Enjoy your dinner at the cafeteria.

Breakfast early at the cafeteria and take the boat back to Sandakan, then travel to the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center.
This excellent center specializes in looking after orphan orang utans and returning them to the wild equipped with the survival skills they need. Know more about the efforts and ways to save them from extinction.
Witness the feeding of the orang utans and enjoy a walk in the forest before departing for Sandakan.
You will have lunch followed by a short tour of Sandakan including a stop at the Buddhist Temple, which offers a panoramic view of Sandakan Bay. You will then be taken to the airport for the flight back to Kota Kinabalu.

Upon arrival in Kota Kinabalu, you will be transferred back to your hotel (extra charge applies).

Every tourist is liable to pay the tourism tax locally upon hotel check out as per the new tourism tax rules set by the government. This tax will applicable for all hotels and accommodation except the ones which are for non – commercial use maintained by government or any other public or religious institutions.
The accommodation used on this tour is clean and comfortable but is basic. It may have a shower only, or fans instead of air conditioning. There is a shared bathroom and toilet on the lower ground floor.
In order to reach Sepilok, you are advised to book the flight MH2042 (7:10am: BKI/SDK). Tour price excludes airfares & taxes. The flight details serve only as a recommendation before you issue your air tickets.
The return air fare from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan is not included in the tour price; you are advised to make your own flight bookings. Recommended flights are BKI/SDK (MH3037), SDK/BKI (MH3094). Flight schedules are subject to change without prior notice.
A 50% surcharge applies for all transfers between 10:30pm and 7am.
Please do not use camera flash when photographing the turtles. This is because shining light on them or using camera flashes can be stressful for the animals.
A surcharge might be applicable if your pick-up and drop off location is not centrally located within the city.
Video/Digital Video Cameras are not allowed when watching the turtles.
Visitors are forbidden from going around the Selingan Island on their own from 6pm to 6am.
A surcharge of MYR45/person/return (SIC basis) and MYR80/person/return (Private basis) will be imposed for transfers from outskirt hotels (Nexus, Rasa Ria, Beringgis, etc).
