Itinerary

Depart from Taipei and head towards the famous Sun Moon Lake as this deep blue lake is a scenic place to be. Immerse yourself in this tranquil atmosphere before continuing onward to the Wenwu Temple located at the shoulder of a mountain, built in 1938 and pretty popular among locals.

Next on the itinerary is a visit to Ci-en Pagoda located on Sha Ba Lan Mountain near Sun Moon Lake. The Pagoda is 46 meters high and has become the famous landmark of Sun Moon Lake. Surrounding the tower are beautiful plants and trees and there are stone tables and chairs for visitors to take a rest.

Head to the north-east of Dashu Township in Kaohsiung county to find a famous tourist destination known mostly for being the Buddhist center of South Taiwan. The architecture of the temples is very characteristic of Taiwan. At the southeastern side of Fo Gunag Mountain (Gunag Shan) Monastery sits the most prominent landmark of the region: a huge golden statue of Buddha Amitaabha which measures a staggering 120 meters! Of course no trip to Kaohsiung is complete without a visit to the Liuhe Tourist Night Market for an opportunity to taste the papaya milk and steamed salty shrimps in Kaohsiung.

Head from Kaohsiung to Kending and make the first stop of the day at Eluanbi Park light house. Kending's rugged coastline provides some of the area's most outstanding attractions. The most prominent of these is Eluanbi, also known as "Taiwan's Tail". This is the island's southernmost point. The peninsula's most notable landmarks, the Eluanbi Lighthouse, also called "The Light of East Asia" stands 21.4 meters high and is reputedly the brightest lighthouse in Asia!

The day is packed with highlights as you head further to Maobitou, named after a rock which looks like a crouching cat facing the sea. The area is an excellent landform classroom with various scarps, reef columns, sea trenches, sea erosion caves and pot holes, which you also find in Longpan Park as you continue onward. The highlight of the day brings you to Hengchun Town which is an entry way to Kenting National Park, the southernmost National Park in the country. With pristine beaches and a vibrant tourist industry, the Hengchun area often attracts more travelers than local residents. The day ends as you spend the night in Taitung.

Depart from Taitung and head to the first stop of the day which takes you to the East Coast National Scenic Area also known as "Taiwan's last unspoiled land," which stretches 170 kilometers! To the east it is bounded by the Pacific Ocean; to the west rises the Coastal Mountain Range. The varied topography of this area provides habitat for a rich diversity of flora and fauna. Wrap up you adventures at natural wetlands in Hualien and also the traditional homeland of the Ami people. Spend the night in Hualien.

Begin your day with a visit to Taroko National Park famous for its spectacular mountains and marble canyons and the special geography has also bred special flora and fauna in this area. As you drive along the Swallow Grotto trail which runs about a half kilometer starting from the entrance to Swallow Grotto to the Jinheng Bridge, you can enjoy the sights of the Liwu River from nearly straight above the water and see the famous rock formation "Chieftain's profile rock". The last leg of the tour takes you to a marble factory before you make the journey back to Taipei where the tour comes to a close.
