The attractions you will be covering on this tour are:
Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall: A world-famous monument dedicated to the 20th-century President of the Republic of China. Explore over 25 hectares of landscaped gardens, graceful pavilions, and ponds and see the statue of late President Chiang. An elegant Ming-style arch at the main entrance is flanked by two classical-style buildings, the National Theatre and the National Concert Hall.
Martyrs’ Shrine: An excellent example of classical Ming dynasty architecture, dedicated to the fallen heroes of China’s wars. There is an hourly changing of the guard ceremony at the entrance which is a must-watch.
National Palace Museum: Houses the world’s largest collection of Chinese art treasure. Most of the 620,000 art objects were part of the Chinese imperial collection that was brought to Taiwan for safe-keeping.
Presidential Office Building (pass by):
On the way to the Grand Hotel Taipei, your tour guide will provide you with a brief introduction when you pass by the Presidential Office Building—a neo-Renaissance building built in 1910s during Japanese colonization, previously served as the office of the Governor-General of Taiwan.
Nowadays, the building operates as the seat of political power in Taiwan. With a long history and an iconic facade, it is also a symbolic landmark in Taipei City.
The Grand Hotel: A landmark located at Yuanshan in Zhongshan District, Taipei. The main building of the hotel is one of the world's tallest Chinese classical buildings, it is 87 meters (285 ft) high. It was also the tallest building in Taiwan from 1973 to 1981.
