Do as the locals do and explore the rolling vineyards, unspoilt bush lands and rich farmland of Adelaide on a scenic drive. Take in the cool breeze and drive through the green Adelaide Hills, home to the Mount Lofty ranges. The scenic beauty of the city is a sight for sore eyes.
Take memories with you when you reach the summit of Mount Lofty, Adelaide’s highest peak as it gives you great photo opportunities with the panoramic views of the city as a backdrop.
It feels like you are going back in time, when you head towards Hahndorf, Adelaide’s oldest German settlement. Experience the charm of quaint, historic hills villages and sample the local handmade produce as well as the arts and crafts of this fascinating region.
You will be picked up from your city hotel for the afternoon tour of the Adelaide Hills and Hahndorf.
The Adelaide Hills are a part of the rolling hills of the Mount Loft Ranges, east of the city of Adelaide in Southern Australia. It is one of the cooler wine regions of mainland Australia and a drive through the scenic hills is a popular pastime for the local residents, due to its proximity from the main city.
While you drive down from North Terrace, Adelaide’s cultural hub, you will come across the highest peak of Adelaide Hills, the Mount Lofty Summit. It is the coldest location in Adelaide. Admire panoramic views of the city from the summit and the coastline. Mount Lofty also gives you ample photo opportunities. Don’t miss a chance to preserve those memories!
Wind your way through the Adelaide Hills villages of Crafers, Stirling, Aldgate and Bridgewater before arriving at Beerenberg Farm Shop, where there is time to taste and purchase from their full range of products. Next, wind your way through the villages of Crafers, Stirling, Aldgate and Bridgewater to reach Adelaide’s oldest German settlement, Hahndorf. See the over 100 year old elm and plane trees standing tall along the Main Street. You will still find the traditional Fachwerk buildings dating back to the German settlements, of which many have been restored to original conditions. The streets of Hahndorf are lined with eateries, galleries, art and craft outlets and souvenir shops.
Before you settle for the afternoon tea or traditional German beer tasting, explore the main street, sample local produce or check out the several arts and crafts shops.
