Our tips for Cambridge

Go punting: A quintessential Cambridge experience, your trip to the beautiful city just isn’t complete till you’ve glided through the picturesque River Cam. See the 7 riverside colleges, including Magdalene, St John's, Trinity, Trinity Hall, Clare, King's and Queens' College as you sail on a punt. Wren library: When in Trinity College, visit Wren Library to see the priceless collection of 55000 books, all published before 1820. AA Milne’s original Winnie the Pooh is one such invaluable book to be found here. Low hotel rates: If you’re traveling on a budget, consider visiting in December as hotel charges are at their lowest. If visiting during peak tourist season (February, August, March), book well in advance to get the best rates. Food: There are plenty of budget-friendly food options as most college kids are cash-strapped. Grab pizzas, deli style sandwiches, lunch specials at Italian restaurants, and sample the jollof (an African rice dish) at the Cambridge market.

Good to know

The best time to visit Cambridge would be between May to September as the weather is perfect for sightseeing. The popular Cambridge Folk Festival also takes place during that time. If you want the cheapest hotel rates and lesser crowds, you should visit in December, although it can get uncomfortably cold.
