Overview

The surroundings may be cool (it’s an old restored Victorian railway station), but what lies within is a treasure trove of Irish history.

The Queenstown Story at Cobh Heritage Centre tells the fascinating tale of Irish emigration, using inventive, modern displays. Find out who emigrated and why from Cork's harbour in the 17th to 20th century.

With inventive and modern displays, you can brush up on the history of this process and the journey’s they took. Including those that boarded the Titanic. Irish history unwrapped. The broad sweep of history encompasses a broad range of people and destinations. Indentured servants and forced labourers sent to America and the West Indies in the 1600’s. Convicts transported to Australia and Canada. Masses driven to North America by the Great Famine, and even the 123 passengers of the Titanic who boarded the ill-fated ship right here in Cobh.
