Designed by Fernando Donis, Dubai Frame is the cultural landmark of the UAE and stands tall at over 150 meters from the ground. It is the metaphorical bridge that serves as a vantage point to witness the confluence of the Old Dubai and the New Dubai.
Unsurprisingly, the Dubai Frame holds the record as the biggest frame in the world. Fernando Donis designed and submitted it for the 2009 ThyssenKrupp Elevator International Award competition. He won $100,000. However, Donis remains embroiled in a lawsuit with City and ThyssenKrupp regarding ownership over the copyrights to the Dubai Frame.
Over two thousand tons of steel were used to construct it. Dubai Frame is over 95 meters wide and also incorporates a ring design that finds inspiration from the Expo 2020 Dubai logo. The rectangular design depicts the golden ratio to create a perfect structural balance.
The Sky deck offers 360-degree views of the entire city and you can reach the glass walkway in the super-fat elevator in just 75 seconds. You can take a selfie with the stunning backdrop, enjoy a coffee and pastries at the top and witness the immense infrastructure in an uninterrupted three-dimension setting.
The best time for a Dubai Frame tour is between early November and late March. However, this also represents the main tourist season, so you should expect more fellow tourists. But you can also participate in some very interesting festivals like Dubai Shopping Festival and more.
Dubai Frame has a striking rectangular design and over 15000 square meters of its observation deck is plated with real gold.
Dubai frame is a 50-story structure with vertical sides standing at 150 meters in height. It is entirely made up of glass, aluminum, and steel.
