Situated on the border of Brazil and Argentina, the 275 Iguassu Falls plunge over a precipice more than a mile and a half wide with an average drop of 300 feet to the Iguazu River below.
Admire stunning views of the renowned ‘Devil´s Throat’ where the force of the torrent creates a permanent cloud of mist. See the magical light effects as sun sparkles on the water droplets and rainbows appear in the spray.
Board a glass elevator to the top of Floriano Falls and on to the mist-shrouded Puerto Canoas, with the roar of the waterfalls in your ears. Access paths and walkways allow you to stroll along the Falls and appreciate their beauty.
For your Excursion to Iguassu Falls (Brazilian Side) you will be picked up from your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle at the time arranged with the local tour operator. Together with your English-speaking guide you will set off to see the magnificent Iguassu Falls.
Located on the Iguazú River, on the border between Brazil and Argentina, Iguassu Falls are the result of a volcanic eruption which left a large crack in the earth. They are taller than Niagara and twice as wide, with 275 cascading waterfalls spread out in a horseshoe fashion covering nearly 2 miles. During the rainy season, between November and March, the rate of water flow over the falls can reach over 450,000 cubic feet (12,750 cubic m) per second.
The name Iguassu comes from the Guaraní Indian word meaning ‘great water’. From your vantage point on the Brazilian bank you can see stunning panoramas of the Falls and magnificent views of the famous feature known as The Devil´s Throat (or ‘Garganta del Diablo’). Here, 14 falls drop 350 feet with such force that a 100-foot tall cloud of mist is permanently suspended overhead. Watch for the rainbow!
For a close-up view, walk through the subtropical forest of Iguassu National Park to the base of Salto Floriano and take the glass elevator to the top of the falls, or walk out over the falls at Salto Union.
The Iguassu National Park along with its ‘sister’ park in Argentina form the most significant remaining rainforest in the southern part of South America which along with the waterfalls has been declared a National Heritage Site by UNESCO.
At the end of a delightful 4-hour trip you will be dropped back at your hotel.
