Itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel and travel in an air-conditioned coach for a historical sightseeing tour of Salvador. An English-speaking guide will accompany you on this tour.

Start in the modern suburb of Barra at the mouth of the Bay with its famous Barra Lighthouse and make your way to the old historical section of town.

Pass the following enroute to the historical center (Pelourinho):

Teatro Castro Alves: Salvador’s musical hub, its magnificent amphitheatre plays host to a plethora of concerts.

Forte de São Pedro: A strategic defence point for guarding the south portion of the city, this fort was built by the Dutch.

Praça Castro Alves : Home to the Bahian Symphony Orchestra and the ballet, Praca de Castro Alvesis a popular venue for fine-arts performances. It also serves as a concert hall for popular Brazilian artistes.

On arriving at the Pelourinho, disembark from the coach. More than a thousand homes, churches and monuments built since the 16th century help make up the greatest collection of Baroque architectural heritage in Latin America. Stroll along the narrow, bustling streets lined with buildings in pastel shades of an age gone by.

Visit the church of Sao Francisco with its exuberant gold-leafed Baroque interior and the Pelourinho square, the heart of the old town.

At the end of the tour you will be dropped off at your hotel in Salvador.
