Overview

Just 70 kilometers outside Salvador, there is a beautiful place called Praia do Forte. Praia do Forte has been nicknamed the Brazilian Polynesia. Its pride is the 12 kilometers of beaches, where white sand stretches as far as the eye can see in its perpetual beauty.

This tour is a great opportunity to see the endangered sea turtles at Projeto Tamar, a sea turtle conservation project. What began as a small scale project in the 80s has turned into an amazing team effort across Brazil to save this endangered species. Projeto Tamar monitors 1000 kilometers of beaches, with 20 stations in 8 Brazilian states. See the labor of love that has gone into protecting sea turtles so that one day they might not be an endangered species.

Itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel in Salvador in an air-conditioned coach for your Praia do Forte Sea Turtle Discovery tour by your English-speaking guide.

Your tour beings with a drive to Praia do Forte, 70 kilometers outside Salvador. Praia do Forte has been nicknamed the Brazilian Polynesia. Upon its 12 kilometers of beaches a wide range of leisure pursuits are available (payable direct).

Next, you’ll see the endangered sea turtles at Projeto Tamar, a sea turtle conservation project. Projeto Tamar monitors 1000 kilometers of beaches, with 20 stations in 8 Brazilian states. The station in Praia do Forte has protected sea turtle feeding and reproduction areas. After learning all about the sea turtles at Projeto Tamar you’ll visit a fishing village, and get a taste of typical Brazilian seaside culture.

Afterwards, you’ll be taken to Praia de Guarajuba for a swim. Surrounded by palm coconut trees, and lined with soft sand, this beach is famous for its warm waters and tide pools!

For lunch, there is either a deluxe buffet or picnic including:

• seafood
• tropical fruit
• regional candies

You’ll be taken back to your hotel in Salvador, where your tour concludes.
