Learn about stories and legends of the local Aboriginal community during the Uluru base tour and see rock paintings and a waterhole that has been the source of water for the Aboriginal people for thousands of years when you take the Mutitjulu Walk.

Visit to Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre and see the amazing collection of original ceramics, paintings and woodwork made by the local Anangu community.

Itinerary

Depart from your Ayers Rock Resort hotel in an air-conditioned coach and hit the road for an Uluru base tour. During the drive, the driver-guide will share notes about the geology of Uluru, local flora and fauna, and narrate fascinating Aboriginal stories.

Moving forward, be ready for a Mutitjulu Walk that leads to a special waterhole that has been an important campsite for the local Anangu community. The waterhole provided a key source of water for the Aboriginal people in the area and had been in use for many thousands of years. During the walk you will see Aboriginal rock paintings about which you will learn interesting facts from your guide.

Next, you will arrive at the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre which houses a vast collection of traditional ceramics, paintings and woodwork made by the Anangu community.

Finally, see the changing colors of Uluru as the sun sets across the desert plains. Talinguru Nyakunytjaku offers magnificent views of Uluru as well as the 36 head-shaped domes of Kata Tjuta, also known as the Olgas. Enjoy panoramic views of the Red Centre Desert at dusk.

At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back to your hotel in Ayers Rock Resort.
