You will be dropped back at your hotel at the end of the evening
Seated comfortably in an art deco former cinema, you’ll be transported back to the enchanting time in the 1940s when the stars of the Golden Age of Tango lived together in the same city… a time when Buenos Aires ‘was’ Tango.
You will be treated to an enthralling 2-hour show recreating the atmosphere of those heady days and see some of the country’s top tango dancers demonstrating the power and passion of this dramatic form.
Select the ‘With Dinner’ option for a delicious 3-course meal with wine before the show, as well as drinks throughout the evening. Or choose simply to watch the captivating performance and enjoy two complimentary drinks. It’s your call!
You will be picked up from your downtown hotel in a comfortable vehicle at the time arranged with the local tour operator and driven to the Tango Porteno Show Tango venue.
This luxurious dining and dancing space was once a cinema-theater that belonged to Metro Goldwin Meyer. In its decor and the costumes of the dancers, Tango Porteno recreates the golden age of the 1940s, a time unquestionably known as the reign of the Tango, the great Argentinean passion.
During this magical decade, the great orchestras of Canaro, Piazzolla, De Caro, Biagi, De Angelis, D’Agostino, and of course Troilo and Pugliesse, developed their full potential in a productive but demanding rivalry, challenging each other at the Chanteclair, Marabú, Tabarís and many other ballrooms.
On arrival at the venue, you will be shown to your seat and will be served a delicious dinner from a menu featuring Argentinean and international cuisine (details under Additional Information). With this option, you can enjoy unlimited purified water or soft drinks during dinner and during the show, plus ½ bottle of wine per adult.
The dinner takes about an hour and afterwards you will enjoy a superb performance with dramatic dances performed by renowned tango artists.
Tango originated in the lower-class districts of Buenos Aires sometime at the end of the 19th century, inspired by a mixture of influences from Spanish and African cultures. Dances from the ‘candombe’ ceremonies of former slave peoples helped shape the modern tango. The music derived from the fusion of various musical genres from Europe.
At the end of the evening, you will be taken back to your hotel.
