During your visit to Gran Canaria, spend your Sunday morning on a trip to the three best street markets of the island – Santa Brigida, San Mateo and Teror.

These markets bring out the vibrancy and local flavour of Gran Canaria as you observe and shop for local goods. The markets sell handmade crafts, locally sourced produce, wine, cheese, sweet handmade cigars and natural products.

The markets of San Mateo and Teror are also known for its selection of island specialties such as the "Chorizo de Teror" or the famous "Queso Flor" Guia.

Itinerary

Your Gran Canaria Local Markets Tour begins from Av. Touroperador Tui, 35100 Maspalomas, Las Palmas from where you will head to the local markets that sell Canarian crafts, handmade goods and natural products, in a coach.

The markets that you will visit during this tour are as follows:

Santa Brigida
A municipal farmer’s market to town, you can purchase a wide range of products like fresh fruit, sweet handmade cigars and aloe vera and locally sourced produce like bread, cheese, honey and jam.

San Mateo
One of the most traditional markets on the island and is known for the freshest vegetables. The market is also known for selling excellent cheese and high quality wine produced in the cellars of the municipality. You can also purchase locally made handicrafts like wicker work, Canary Island knives, leather work and wood work.

Terror
It is the most beautiful and one of the best municipalities for buying typical items of Canary Islands crafts and nice food joints. Every Sunday from 8.00 am until 3.00 pm the Basilica of Teror is the centre of a large market where visitors can find all kinds of products from the land, confectionary, clothes or craft products of the municipality. The speciality of markets are hand crafted goods like basketwork and brass work, woodcarving, open-work embroidery, macramé, needlework, clay and reed work, textiles and crochet.
