The Granada in a Nutshell Tour offers you the chance to enjoy the city’s most famous features – the amazing Alhambra Palace and Flamenco, the Spanish art form that combines music, song, and dance.
The adventure begins when you are picked up from your Granada city center hotel.
• Alhambra Tour:
You’ll enjoy a guided tour of the Alhambra, a ‘must’ for every visitor to the city of Granada. Our official tour guides are expert interpreters of Granada’s heritage and will guide you through every part of the “red fortress”. Dating back more than 600 years, the Alhambra is one of the finest examples of Islamic art in the world. It was constructed during the mid-14th century by the Berber rulers of the Emirate of Granada in al-Andalus, and the complex also contains a Renaissance palace built by Emperor Charles V.
A key attraction is Alcazaba (The Fortress), the oldest part of the Alhambra and home to its former military precincts. You’ll also see the Mexuar Palace, where the Council of Ministers met and the Sultan dispensed justice.
Continue to the Generalife, built as a place of leisure for Granada’s Moorish Kings in the 14th century. Stroll through the spectacular gardens, said to have been inspired by the Koranic description of Paradise. You will see tall columnar cypress trees, roses, orange trees, oleanders and other flowers as well as lovely water features poetically described by one writer as, “water that cries”.
After exploring the beautiful Moorish architecture of the Alhambra, you will be dropped back at your hotel or can leave the tour at Car Park No. 1 of the Alhambra.
• Flamenco Show:
In the evening you’ll completely immerse yourself in genuine Andalusian culture at a Flamenco Show in one of the famous Sacromonte caves. Located on the slopes of Cerro de San Miguel, these caves were inhabited by Spanish gypsies and became popular places for community singing and dancing.
Flamenco dance is known for its emotional intensity, proud carriage, expressive use of the arms and rhythmic stamping of the feet.
There are two options for your delightful Flamenco Show experience:
• Show with Dinner
• Show with Drink
• Show with Dinner:
You will be picked up from your hotel between 1900h (7:00pm) and 1945h (7:45pm). First you will have a drink and dinner on the terrace, accompanied by live guitar music, and can enjoy the views while you savor the traditional Andalusian fare. After dinner, you will go inside the cave to see the stunning flamenco show.
At about 2230h (10:30pm), you will go for a 30-minute walk through the winding cobbled streets of the Albaycin quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed neighborhood. See the beautiful Moorish and Andalusian buildings and breath-taking views of the Alhambra at night.
At the end of the evening, you will be driven back to your hotel.
• Show with Drink:
You will be picked up from your hotel between 2045h (8:45pm) and 2130h (9:30pm) and will first go on the 30-minute walk through the Albaycin quarter before going inside the cave to see the flamenco show. A drink is included in your tour price.
At the end of the evening, you will be driven back to your hotel.
Voucher information: No need to print! You can show your voucher on your smartphone or other devices. (But if you’d rather print a copy – that’s fine too!)
