You can also opt for this tour without lunch or as a private group tour.
Leave Granada for the day to travel into the beautiful and remote mountain region of Alpujarras. In the wettest parts, where rivers run down from the Sierra Nevada, you can see orchards full of fruit trees especially grape vines, oranges, lemons, persimmons, figs and almonds. The area also boasts an incredible variety of wild flowers.
You will visit Lanjaron, a spa town known for its chalybeate (iron-rich) water. Bottles of Lanjaron mineral water are sold all over Spain. The town also has a ruined castle and has earned additional fame for being a place ‘where death is prohibited’. The law is a protest by the mayor who has said that Lanjaron is to remain with this law until the government buys land for a new cemetery!
You will also see Orgiva, the central town of this mountainous region, and picturesque villages such as Carataunas, Pampaneira, Pitres, Portugos which is known for its “Fuente Agria” or bitter spring water, and Trevelez, the highest village in Spain.
You will then continue through Bubion to Capileira, where you will enjoy a traditional three-course lunch.
At the end of this delightful day-long tour you will be dropped off back at your hotel in Granada.
