Tour returns to your original point of departure
Drive past black lava fields and volcanic rocks in an array of colors from red-ochre through burnt umber to blues and purples. Have your camera at the ready as you explore Timanfaya’s surreal lunar landscape with its cones and craters. Experience the amazing hot rocks of Fire Mountain.
See lovingly nurtured vineyards nestling in the valleys and learn how grapes are cultivated under the harsh and arid conditions of Lanzarote.
View the astonishing jade-green lagoon at El Golfo, strikingly set against a backdrop of red cliffs, and the glistening white pyramids of salt at El Janubio salt works. Visit Los Hervideros on the coast where the sea appears to be boiling and bubbling in a series of lava caverns.
This half-day tour is crammed full of extraordinary sights and marvels.
You will be picked-up from your hotel. Accompanied by an English-speaking guide, you will travel by coach to the dramatic Timanfaya National Park with its extraordinary lunar landscapes. The 8-kilometre square National Park is filled with black lava fields, craters and colorful volcanic cones.
Take photos non-stop as you cross the rugged landscapes to the summit of Islote de Hilario or Fire Mountain. Here, you can see some demonstrations of the intense underground heat. For example a staff member will pour water down a number of holes in the ground, only for it to burst back up again in a geyser like spout, a few seconds later. Another demonstration shows how quickly hay will catch light when exposed to the heat emanating beneath the earth.
You can then take a ride around the volcanic slopes before visiting La Geria, Lanzarote’s wine-growing region. Sample the fruity tipples amid the black lava vineyards.
Next stop is El Golfo – a vivid green lagoon in a crater. Other natural wonders await at the bizarre Los Hervideros, where waves force water into a labyrinth of caves with such force it appears as if the sea is bubbling and boiling. You can wander around pathways in the cliffs and watch the display below.
After seeing the amazing salt flats at El Janubio, it’s then off to a nearby beach resort. Here, you’ll have time to do some shopping, grab a bite or simply relax on the sands before your return trip.
At the end of the tour you will return to the original departure point.
