Madrid de los Austrias: Often referred to as Habsburg's Madrid, this historic neighborhood is home to many cultural sights of the city, namely the Royal Palace. Finished in 1764, the Royal Palace has over 2800 rooms.
Catedral de la Almudena: The neo-gothic cathedral was started in 1879 and finished in 1992. Because of its late finish, the interior of the cathedral is surprisingly modern, with decorations ranging from historical to pop art.
Mercado de San Miguel: This historical Madrid market is considered one of the best places in the city to go to for tapas. Here, you can sample some of Spain's finest cuisine.
Puerto del Sol: Gate of the Sun serves as the centre for Madrid's network of roads. Famous statues, such as the Bear and the Madroño Tree, sit in the square. Perto del Sol is also the location of the famous clock that marks the beginning of the new year with its chimes.
