Overview

Discover one of Spain’s greatest splendours, often referred to as ‘The eighth wonder of the world’ on this tour of Granada. The Alhambra Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is set in a stunning location overlooking the city of Granada, and nestling at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Arguably the finest example of Arab architecture in the whole of Spain, the palace and its gardens were built as a re-creation of ‘heaven on earth’, with cool patios, fountains and intricate carvings still as clear as when it was first built.

The Alhambra is composed of three parts: the Royal Palace, the gardens of Generalife and the fortress of Alcazaba. The inspiration for the gardens of Generalife is supposed to be the Koranic description of Paradise.

While the Alhambra is undoubtedly Granada’s highlight there is plenty more of interest to see in the city. In the afternoon you are at leisure to explore the city at your own pace.

What's the plan:

You will be picked up in a deluxe air conditioned coach from one of the designated spots (check options) in Costa del Sol and taken on a guided tour of Granada.

Proceed to Granada to visit the Alhambra, a fortress renowned for its Arab architecture and the gorgeous gardens of the Generalife. The tour gives you the opportunity to photograph the delicate carvings and stunning decorations reflected in the water features found around every corner.

The local guide will bring the complex to life and transport you to the magical world of the Arabian Nights. Take in the scent of plants and the sounds of trickling water in the cool oasis of the gardens, which makes for great photos with the Sierra Nevada Mountains as a backdrop.

At around 1:00pm, you will break for lunch at a local restaurant (payable direct).

You have the afternoon to explore the city centre at leisure, where you may choose to visit the impressive Cathedral or stroll the narrow streets of the wonderful Albaycin.

After exploring the city of Granada, you will be transferred back to your designated spot in Costa del Sol.
