A tour of the English countryside that takes you to the historic Windsor Castle, stunning Stonehenge and the beautiful Georgian city of Bath. It includes all sightseeing and entrance fees. An expert guide will accompany throughout, bringing the age-old sites to life with insightful and interesting commentary. You will travel in a luxury coach throughout the course of the tour.
After leaving London, your first stop will be the magnificent Windsor Castle, which is perched high above the River Thames just outside of London. From William the Conqueror to the current Queen of England and successive monarchs in-between, Windsor Castle has been home to royals for centuries. The royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took place here in May 2018. Explore the grandeur of St. Georges Chapel and the splendid State Apartments, the traditional shops and historic pubs.
Continue your journey to Stonehenge, one of the wonders of the world. This amazing and still somewhat inexplicable site is believed to have been built between 3000 and 2000 BC. Stand close to the stone circle and ponder the purpose of this collection of stones. The guide will share some of the theories and known facts about Stonehenge and its history dating back to 5000 years.
Next, head to the beautiful village of Lacock, an area that dates back to the 13th century, and is now owned by the National Trust. Visit the charming hamlet and its restaurants, pubs, shops and cobblestone crannies; the village is so well preserved that it feels like you are stepping back in time! These places have been featured in many popular films including Pride and Prejudice and Harry Potter. In time for lunch? Relax at a 14th-century pub and gorge on a plate of authentic fish and chips.
Your final stop is the gorgeous Georgian town of Bath. People are visiting the city for centuries to see the warm springs bubbling up at a temperature of 46.5 degree Celsius. Home to author Jane Austen and two of her famous novels – Persuasion and Northanger Abbey, Bath was re-invented in the 18th century, and some of the sophisticated Georgian buildings like the Circus and Royal Crescent were constructed. You will visit all of these and much more during your excursion.
