You will visit Piazzale Michelangelo from where you get a wonderful view of the whole city and take a walking tour around the iconic Duomo. This tour includes skip the line access to Florence's most popular museums. Visit the Uffizi Gallery, which houses the works of masters like Titian, Botticelli, Michelangelo and Da Vinci. The Galleria dell’Accademia, is most renowned for being the home of the famous statue of David by Michelangelo. The tour starts at 9:00am from the meeting point, accompanied by a guide, board a coach for your tour of Florence.
Travel to Piazzale Michelangelo, for a wonderful photo stop. This esplanade provides a bird’s eye view of Florence and its picturesque surroundings. From here, you can get a wonderful view of some of the city’s most celebrated buildings.
Re-board the coach and travel to the historic centre of Florence for the external guided walking tour of the Piazza del Duomo and its Cathedral. This is one of the most spectacular squares in all of Florence. The cathedral, with its tiered pink, white and green Gothic façade will leave you enthralled.
Proceed to the Galleria dell’Accademia. The Galleria displays paintings and sculptures of famous Florentine artists. The works, spanning the 13th to 16th centuries, include the world’s most famous statue, David, carved from a single block of marble rock by Michelangelo.
After the visit to the Galleria della Accademia you will be taken to a restaurant in the historic centre for a light lunch. This is just a brief walk away and you will be accompanied by your guide.
The afternoon starts with a drive to Fiesole. A delightful Etruscan town set in the hills overlooking Florence and the Arno Valley.
Returning to the city centre you will enjoy a walking tour which will take you around the outside of the Franciscan Church of Santa Croce. The church is a burial ground of Florence’s most illustrious citizens including Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Galileo and Rossini. Continue to Piazza Signoria from where you can admire the imposing exterior of the Palazzo Vecchio, the imposing town hall of Florence.
Your last stop of the day is the Uffizi Gallery, home to works of masters such as Titian, Botticelli, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci to name a few. Enjoy a guided tour of the museum, after which can stay and explore on your own. Typically, and specially in high season, the wait time at Uffizi Gallery can be up to 5 hours, but your ticket will save you that trouble.
The tour ends at 6:00pm inside the Uffizi Gallery.
